The park also has some really cool landscapes that didn't fit into the photos separately, but are visibly present in the background everywhere.) So, even just driving around has its own charm...
Right in the middle of the Caldera is a huge lake, mountains bristle on the horizon, and on this side, geysers are steaming and female deer are grazing. But the main place in the park isn't even the geysers, or the volcanoes, or the bison pastures, but the Lower Yellowstone Falls. 100 meters of roaring water that you can watch from above, from a distance of 3 meters, grabbing the railing with shaking hands, or from the side, from observation decks in the Canyon from a distance of 500-1500 m. Try both, but definitely go down to it. Before this, I didn't even know that waterfalls were the most amazing thing in the world.
Imagine, at a distance of two outstretched arms from you, a mass of crystal-clear water several meters deep turns from a calm current into a rapidly rushing, yet still crystal-clear, stream and, with the roar of millions of open bathroom faucets, crashes down. You are standing on a ledge, so you can trace the flight of the water and see the waterfall from almost any angle. It's impossible to take your eyes off it.
Despite not wanting to linger, we were stunned with delight and awe for about five minutes, after which frantic attempts began to see it here, there, and over there))) Americans told us it was cooler than Niagara. Unfortunately, I can't compare, but few things are capable of taking your breath away like this... It is grandiose.
This is all in the southern part of the park. In the north are the Mammoth Hot Springs and Tower Falls. Mammoth is the furthest away, and we definitely wouldn't go there a second time. It seemed like a strange miscarriage amidst the splendor of Yellowstone. But Tower Falls is worth a visit if you have time. In general, that's the whole banquet)
By unanimous admission, Yellowstone is the best park we've ever been to. If you want to see America, diverse and amazing - come here.
But if you have 2.5-3 hours left until sunset and you are at the Lake, or at Old Faithful, or at the Waterfall, and are deciding where to go, south or north - don't hesitate and head south.
There, another pearl of America awaits you, located 40 km south of Yellowstone, but known by far fewer people - Grand Teton. A mountain lake of amazing beauty. At least driving along it at sunset is the best reward for the most aimlessly lived day. The sun from the side of the mountains and a clear sky.
Sigh, what else do you need 6 days before the end of the best adventure of your life?..)
