September 3, 2010
So, it's September. Everyone has gone back to school, university, etc. I didn't notice it in the USA like I did in Russia. No kids dressed up in their best clothes. Everything is just like any other day. The weather improved for a couple of days and I sold water – sold quite a bit, it was very hot. Now, Hurricane Earl has been announced near the coast – the weather has gotten worse.
I'll be heading home soon – only a few days left in America. In principle, it's time to start studying – I'm already in my 4th year. I spent the whole day at home today – Lana bought a printer – we were printing photos. I took a portrait that looks like a book cover – a great photo of Egor.
The guys aren't working either, by the way. Egor still hasn't received his order from ebay.com – worth $500 – it's very nerve-wracking.
Lana is going to the hospital for surgery – we'll be alone at home – so there's that. She needs a follow-up back surgery.
There was a problem with my ticket. The website said my flight to Paris was on August 25th – I saw this on August 28th. I called AirFrance – the lady checked everything and moved the date to September 15th, just as I had planned to fly out. Their service is actually quite good.
I bought batteries for my camera – I'm taking pictures of the USA – landscapes – I really like the sky – it's just like a magnet – so beautiful.
I'm reading Harry Potter – in English, it's very interesting – at the same time, I'm learning words I encounter in the text using flashcards. I've started to understand the language and meaning better, but I need to practice my pronunciation – for that, Egor showed me the website bbc.co.uk – there's a ton of material there to learn English.
I try to talk to Americans whenever I get the chance. I don't understand everything, but I try to explain myself as best I can.
In general, there's not much time left and then I'm off to New York – to buy things, take photos, see the financial capital of the world, and then home – to university, to my family – to my homeland.
Maybe next year I'll go to Turkey to work, or maybe, I think even for sure, I'll try my hand at something – I'll start a business.
