Since we lived, to put it mildly, at the very edge of town, and all the shops, cafes, etc., were in the city center, we had to 'stroll' 7-10 miles every day... Let me clarify right away: we didn't know how to ride bikes, and buses don't run around the city because it's small and, most importantly, a tourist town where everyone drives cars. So we had to walk, walk, walk... and we walked because we were looking for a second job... even just to go get bread, we had to walk half an hour to Walmart and the same back... by the way, Walmart is paradise... it really has the lowest prices compared to all other stores or supermarkets (verified). Aselya and I could spend hours walking around there) Anyway, back to the topic of finding a second job... I walked more this summer than I have in my entire life... it's scary to even imagine how much Aselya and I extended our lives) The funniest part was that we also got terribly sunburned... it was fine for me, I at least turned brown, but it was scary to even look at Aseka, because she didn't tan, she just turned red... We were the perfect pair: a tanned cowgirl and a red-faced Indian))
We got our first paycheck on July 15th and immediately realized that without a second job, we wouldn't earn a damn thing, since they were also deducting rent from us. We had been looking for work in our neighborhood near our hotel before that, but since everything was full, we decided to expand our search area, despite knowing how hard it would be to run 3-4 miles to a second job after the first one. The wandering through cafes and restaurants began... I admit, at first it was really awkward to walk into all these places and ask for a job, but gradually I got used to it and stopped caring. We were everywhere... and in some places even several times, but everywhere they told us they had no vacancies. Christi and Viki even tried to help us, asking their acquaintances, vouching for us... but our huge problem was that we arrived very late. Until August 15th, I didn't lose hope of finding a second job, but after that, it was useless since we had to leave on September 11th. But personally, for me, it was a very useful experience... we had to 'endure' so much while desperately looking for a second job...
And by the way, a tip for those going to America for the first time: when applying for a job, say that you will work 1-2 months longer than you actually will, because it's not profitable for them to train you and then lose you... the main thing is to warn them in advance at the end, about a week before you leave the job... you can make up that you have problems at home, at university, etc. (whatever your conscience and imagination allow).
