Throughout our time with our new American friend Dan, he constantly offered us his help and transportation (meaning he said if we needed to go anywhere, he would definitely rush over and drive us wherever we needed)... We also went bowling with him (on his tab... even though we, of course, offered to pay for ourselves). He wouldn't leave us alone, even though sometimes we would stupidly make up silly excuses just to avoid meeting him. For a long time, he kept suggesting we go camping with him. Since I'm a fan of trying new and unusual things, I absolutely loved the idea... but Aselya didn't want to go to the mountains and sleep in a tent among bugs and insects at first. But in the end, I managed to convince Aselya that it was still better than sitting at home in front of the TV, and we told Dan we were in. Honestly, I admit we were a bit wary of this American because, first of all, we didn't understand why he wanted to hang out with us so persistently... and secondly, because I once saw an axe in his car!!!!))) When I asked him why he needed an axe in his car, he replied that even in peaceful and quiet Cody, there could be hooligans or maniacs... 'Oh my God, maybe you're one of them... one of the maniacs?!' flashed through my head, but I calmed myself down and decided I needed to watch fewer horror movies. Casting aside all fears and doubts, we decided to go camping on Friday evening (I don't remember the exact date). We prepared salads, made and boiled vareniki, took everything necessary (Aselya took a paper cutter with her, just in case Dan really turned out to be a maniac), and set off on our first-ever camping trip. We went to the mountains, which I had long noticed and dreamed of climbing. The trip to the mountains was cool, of course... but first, we had to set up the tent, which just didn't want to be set up... Then we went to look for firewood for a campfire. When we had walked quite far from our spot looking for wood, Dan told me to take the wood I had gathered back while he and Aselya gathered the rest... After walking about five steps, the intrusive thought popped into my head again that Dan was a total maniac: 'Damn, so he decided to get rid of us one by one!!!'))) To my great relief, upon reaching our campsite, I saw him and a safe and sound Aselya in the distance. Everything was going quite well: we lit a fire, and then I was drawn to look at the surroundings and, of course, take photos!) The view of the city was unrealistically beautiful; I just couldn't get enough of it. When it started to get dark, we sat by the fire, eating the hot dogs, vareniki, and salads we had prepared... Dan, by the way, really liked our vareniki, which he had never tried in his life. We sat there until about one in the morning... chatting mostly about nonsense (since our vocabulary wouldn't allow Aselya and me to have conversations on any sophisticated topics). When we were completely exhausted, we decided to go to sleep, as we still had to go to work the next day. Even though I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep in a tent, I passed out in the first minute and slept until the morning. In the morning, we packed all our things and the tent, Dan drove us to the hotel, we thanked him for this wonderful camping trip, and headed home. That's how my first, and hopefully not last, camping trip went!
