Let's talk about work, our favorite topic. To avoid getting into a mess, contact your employer before you leave. Ask if they are expecting you and if they guarantee your job placement. Yes, it probably sounds funny. But usually, employers issue more job offers than needed due to a high number of cancellations. And someone has to do the work. So it might happen that the required number of people arrived before you and there are no vacancies left. You can also ask about housing. Perhaps the employer can suggest where you can stay. Because those involved with Work and Travel are usually aware of all the nuances and needs. Fortunately (knock on wood), they waited for me, and there were no problems with work. But unfortunately, I met those whom the employer had so brazenly ditched. Students, in a foreign country, without an expected source of income, with 200 bucks in their pocket, without permanent housing (who knows where you'll be tomorrow), disappointed in the whole wide world... And yet, the most important thing is not to leave them in trouble. After all, anyone could end up in their place. We helped such guys as much as we could. We looked for work, provided free housing, and supported them however possible. So, in the end, it was a happy end. Don't abandon your neighbor in trouble - that's the moral of this paragraph =)

You are allowed to work a maximum of 40 hours per week. So, starting from about the 3rd or 4th day of work under your job offer, once you've settled in, you can look for other jobs. Or try to convince them to give you overtime =) Which, of course, is more profitable. But not everyone gives extra hours..

What I love about the American payment system is the tips. Sometimes it happens that in one day, tips are more than the money on your daily paycheck =) So look for a job with tips, especially girls. People don't skimp on rewards for them for kind words and smiles.
