I've been here for exactly a month today!
What have I done this month?
If I think about it, quite a lot... but I just can't seem to figure out the work situation...
Anyway, we rented a nice house, though as I said before, check everything thoroughly!!!!
Because for a week we lived practically without electricity and a bathroom door! Yes, that happens here too ;)
I already feel at home in Cape Town, although I still have a hard time navigating the city center.
On Saturday we went to Club 31, it's on the 31st floor, and it offers a crazy view of the city. Seeing that, you realize this is a dream city... Just imagine: a club, music, panoramic windows, everyone dancing, everyone happy, and the city glowing all around you, you can even see the ocean a little!
And work... that's a separate conversation. I found two options two weeks ago, but I still can't start. At the bar, they haven't been able to sign my contract for two weeks... I go there every other day, it's even embarrassing now, and the answer I get is 'we'll call you back'... In the second option, I've been waiting for a week for the training to start... How I passed the interviews is a whole other story... they asked me some questions, and I answered completely at random because my English is far from brilliant! But it seems I hit the mark everywhere.
I also need a bank account... and that's another story too... we were all given tourist visas with a note at the bottom saying we can work. I've already turned all the banks upside down with this visa... but everywhere the answer is the same: 'You are not a resident of the country, so we cannot open an account for you'... One time they just drove me to hysteria, I burst into tears, cursed everyone out in Russian, and left. But a very nice girl caught up with me and gave me the contacts of Michael, who works at the bank, and he was finally able to help me... well, not entirely, of course, he gave me a couple of papers that I took to work to get them filled out... I've been waiting for a week and a half for that to happen now....
It's December now, and I'm sitting here thinking about going to the beach to sunbathe...
In short, Cape Town is cool, but it's not all that simple...
