When I first arrived in America, I was scared to go into grocery stores.
In Russia, there was so much talk about American food that at first, I didn't eat anything at all))
I spent half an hour choosing a bottle of water—which one is better? And without additives))
In American stores, everything is designed for Americans—everything is huge and in large quantities.
A bag of chips is huge—I would have ended up in the hospital with one of those right away))
When I found a small Russian store, my joy knew no bounds—everything was so familiar and dear—I bought rice and buckwheat)))
I cooked in my employer's kitchen—the whole family came to see what I was cooking))) But no one dared to try it)))
Also, in America, I made borscht with my new friends in their dorm)) They saw how to peel and cut beets for the first time)
When the soup was ready, I poured myself a bowl and added sour cream—the girls were in shock: "Is that even allowed?" )))) You should have seen their faces)) haha
But, it's okay, they tasted the borscht—they were satisfied!!!
Before leaving, I also baked my favorite cake—Zebra—for my employer and her family)) They liked it a lot)))
I always bake this cake for my friends)) Yes, I can easily count my employer as one of my friends—she's cool)))
