Step 6 - Summer in the USA and return

Work, travel and new friends from all over the world are what await you in the Work & Travel USA program! Your summer in the U.S. Job: You will work in the hospitality industry: amusement parks, hotels, restaurants, stores. The schedule can be tight, up to 40 hours a week, but it's a great chance not only to earn money, but also to improve your English by constantly communicating with colleagues and guests. All working conditions will be clearly spelled out in your contract, so there will be no surprises. Housing: Employers usually help with housing, which can be a hostel, an apartment, or even a cabin on a campground. You will most likely have to share a room with other program participants, which is a great way to make friends, by the way! Cultural Experience: When you're not working, you'll have plenty of time to explore the U.S. and immerse yourself in the local culture. Don't miss the 4th of July Independence Day celebration, sample authentic American barbecue and soak up the atmosphere at local festivals and fairs. Meeting People: Work & Travel is not only about work, but also about making new acquaintances. You will meet students from different countries and have the opportunity to expand your social circle, possibly for life. Many participants keep in touch with new friends even after the program ends! Homecoming Program Ending: When your work is complete, you will have up to 30 days to travel around the U.S. - that's your "grace period." Use this time wisely! Explore new cities, travel some of America's iconic routes and discover America in all its glory. Prepare for departure: Make sure all documents are in order and your return flight date is confirmed. Settle any outstanding matters with your employer and housing so that your departure is smooth and worry-free. At customs: Make sure you bring home only authorized items so that you don't have problems when you enter your country. Impressions and experiences: When you return home, share your highlights with your loved ones. This experience will be a great addition to your resume and will help you stand out in job interviews! Readjusting to Life at Home: When you return home after a summer full of adventure, you may need time to get back to your normal routine. This is a normal process - just give yourself time to get used to your surroundings and people again. Your summer on the Work & Travel USA program will be unforgettable, full of adventure and new discoveries!
