Health Insurance for Work & Travel Participants

All Work and Travel USA participants receive standard medical insurance for the duration of their employment that covers basic medical expenses, saving you from having to pay large medical bills when needed. Start and End Dates: The policy begins on the program start date specified in SEVIS. If the start date of the program is postponed (e.g. due to flight delays), the start date of the insurance will also be postponed. The insurance is valid until the program end date shown on the DS-2019 form or in the SEVIS system. However, if you end your employment before this date, the insurance will also end on the day you end your employment. Both deadlines can be checked in your personal account on the sponsor's website. Grace period: Health insurance does not cover medical expenses during your travel after the Grace period. If you plan to travel within the United States, be sure to purchase additional insurance. You can do this on your own or with the help of an IEC representative. Use of insurance: Please note that the insurance includes a deductible and coinsurance, which means that you pay for small medical expenses or medication. The insurance does not cover dental care, so only go to the doctor if necessary. Actions in case of a medical issue or insurance claim: If you need medical assistance, you should contact the insurer's service center: * Toll-free: (877) 702-6767 * Direct Dial: +1 (317) 582-2622 What to remember: * Check the start and end dates of your insurance in SEVIS. * If you complete your work before the deadline, your insurance coverage ends. * When planning a trip after the program, purchase additional insurance.
