Scheduling Your Visa Interview
Please note that in some countries and IEC offices, visa appointments are arranged through an IEC representative. First confirm the procedure with your representative. If participants in your country schedule appointments themselves, use the official appointment service specified by the U.S. embassy or consulate. The specific website, payment methods, and appointment-selection procedure vary by country. If you schedule the appointment yourself, the general sequence is as follows: 1. Filling out the DS-160 form Before you can schedule an interview, you must fill out the DS-160 electronic form. This is a mandatory step for all nonimmigrant visa applicants. After completing the form, you'll receive a confirmation number that you'll need for the next steps. 2. Creating an account in the official applicant system * If the instructions for your country require you to schedule the appointment yourself, open the official appointment service specified by the U.S. embassy or consulate and create a profile. Enter your DS-160 confirmation number and the other required information. 3. Consular Fee Payment Before you make an appointment for an interview, you must pay the consular fee. The amount for participants of the Summer Work Travel program is 185 USD. Payment can be made in several ways: * Through a bank: Visit a branch of a bank that works with a U.S. embassy or consulate and pay the fee. * Online: In some countries it is possible to pay online with a bank card. * Other methods: Other payment methods may be available depending on the country. After payment, receive a confirmation with the CGI number or transaction number. Important: You will only be able to make an appointment for a visa interview after paying the consular fee, unless otherwise specified by the individual U.S. Embassy/Consulate. 4. Appointment for an interview * Log in to your account in the official applicant system used for your country. * On the left side of the page, select the "Schedule My Appointment" section. * Choose your visa type, category and class. * Answer the questions and enter your personal information. * You'll see a table with available interview dates and the number of slots for each date. * Choose an interview date and time that is convenient for you. * Confirm the appointment and send a confirmation of the interview appointment to your email. 5. Prepare for the interview Prepare all necessary documents including: * Appointment confirmation (Appointment confirmation). * Proof of completion of the visa application form (DS-160 confirmation page). * Confirmation of SEVIS fee payment. * Signed Form DS-2019. * Valid passport (also previous passports). * An invitation from an employer (job offer). * Printed photo (5x5 cm) as required by the embassy (just in case). * A certificate from the University. * Student ID. * A grade book or equivalent academic record. * A booklet about your rights in the United States (Wilberforce Brochure). 6. Appearance for the interview Come to the embassy or consulate at the appointed time with printed confirmations and all required documents. Important Notes: * Make sure all documents and data are filled out correctly. * Show up for your interview on time, taking into account going through security procedures. * If additional questions or concerns arise, you can contact the U.S. Consulate for advice or visit the support site.
