-M: Yes, the passport that you have is new, because the old one has already expired. Here is my old passport. (Дается старый загран, офицер его листает, ставит штамп на старую американскую визу “Canceled without prejudice»). As you see, I've traveled a lot in my life. I've been many times to Europe: Germany and France. I strongly believe that travelling is the greatest thing in the world! One gets to know other cultures, mentalities, meets new interesting people and practices the language. Alone changing the atmosphere makes it worth to go on trip!

-O: Ok, well...thank you, your documents are all right, everything is fine and you can pick up your visa within few days. Good luck and have a nice trip!

К: Summer Work and Travel, right?

Я: сохраняю остатки самообладания и...вдруг выпаливаю поразительно спокойным тоном: No!

K: (озадаченность на лице) – No??? But your classes start....?

Я: Oh, sure, the first of September. But first two months our schedule is rather unstable, classes are not very serious. It was not difficult for me to catch up. So, I didn’t have any problems. (опять честные глаза.)

K: Ok.... (опять копаясь в бумажках, вроде ответ его удовлетворил). So, you visited the US once. Why do you want to do it again?

Я: (к этому вопросу я была готова и приготовила длинную речь про то, что это позволит мне improve my English, что это поможет мне в будущей карьере, так как моя специализация "США и Канада" и т.д.) Я набрала в грудь побольше воздуха и....вдруг выпалила: - I just enjoyed it. I like it! (простецкое выражение лица) Тут я начинаю понимать, что опять сморозила полный бред и что пора и честь знать, наверное.... Но все еще сохраняю хорошую мину при плохой игре. По-прежнему улыбаюсь.

K: (к моему удивлению, выражение лица такое, будто другого ответа он и не ожидал) - Ok! Where are you going this summer?

Я: Maryland.

K: Ok. Can you show me your student ticket? (Кажется он сказал именно так, не помню. Но я поняла, о чем речь и полезла за студнем.)

Я: Here you are. (протягиваю студенческий).

К: Ок... (рассматривает и вдруг начинает хмуриться – я уже в холодном поту напряженно жду подвоха, хотя бояться вроде было нечего – я действительно студентка). Are you a sophomore? (второкурсник, если кто не знает)

Я: No, I’m in my forth year...

K: Oh!!! O’kaaaaay!!! They just make these stamps so close to each other that I can barely see them.

Я: (Выдавливаю нервный смешок, нервы на пределе. Решаю подсунуть еще и справку из вуза, так, на всякий случай)

K: Oh, ok. Ok. So, everything is ok with your documents. (Тут он отъезжает на своем кресле немного назад и спрашивает кого-то "We are doing the same as last time, aren’t we?"

Я: (Тут до меня доходит, что он имеет ввиду – 18 –е марта, когда отказали всем. Я расстроена, но все еще пытаюсь улыбаться.)

K: Everything is fine. But.... We have some problems with your sponsor organization, they didn’t provide us with correct information. It’s not your fault. You can’t get your visa till we fix the problem. Ok? (складывает мои бумажки в стопочку)

Я: Ok....(c понимающим видом киваю.) My passport... (протягиваю руку)

K: No, no! We will keep it till your company fixes the problem. Ok?

Я: Oh! Sure!!! (широко улыбаюсь, т.к. понимаю, что есть еще порох в пороховницах)
