Program Dates
Permitted Summer Work Travel participation dates vary by country. Plan to arrive in the United States as close as possible to the beginning of the permitted period for your country so that you have more time to work and participate in the program. At the same time, your actual program dates are determined by the dates on your DS-2019 form, your academic vacation period, and the terms of your Job Offer. They may be shorter than the maximum permitted period for your country. Always rely first and foremost on the official dates for your country published by the U.S. Department of State. You can check the current dates on the BridgeUSA Summer Work Travel Resource Page. On that page, find the current Program Date Chart link. The name of the chart or its location on the page may change, so look for the chart showing the permitted Summer Work Travel dates by country. https://j1visa.state.gov/summer-work-travel-resource-page/ After the program ends, there is a Grace Period of up to 30 days. During this period you may travel in the United States, but you may not work. IMPORTANT! After returning home, each participant must personally notify the IEC representative in his or her city of the return.
